The Children's Learning
Museum will be opening the CLM Academy of Art and Technology on October
25, 2003. The academy will offer classes in painting, drawing, arts
and crafts, and computers for children of all ages, families, and adults.
In addition to ongoing classes we will bring in professional artists,
computer scientists, and engineers to give talks and discuss the possible
careers offered in art and technology. We have outstanding instructors
with many years of experience working with children and youth, plus
varied interests in the arts and technology. Register today by phone

Classes will take
place at the museum, 740 Front St. Suite 155, Downtown Santa Cruz (In
the Galleria, behind Mobo Sushi)

Pizza lunch to follow
Come help us decorate the museum for the launch of our Academy of Art
and Technology classes. We will be decorating with ribbons and mobiles.
There will be a brief introduction to origami and mobile making.
This event is free to all those who participate. All ages welcome.

Price: $10 drop-in, $40 for the class series
Class series includes the following lessons:
- Origami
- Bug Boxes
- Climbing Creatures
- Tissue Paper Flowers
- Hand-bound books

Discover Artistic Expression Workshop
Instructor: Victoria Andrea Doria
All ages Price: $25
Discover how to let out your own artistic expression. Work on a large
scale painting for display in the museum. Work as a team to create a huge
color tryptic.

Discover Solar Energy Workshop
Instructor: Brooke Christopher
All ages Price: $20
Learn about solar energy by building various types of solar ovens using
basic household materials. Come cook pizza, hot dogs, and marshmellows
under the sun.

Fabric Covered Boxes Family Workshop
Instructor: Brooke Christopher
All ages Price: $25/person, $15/children, $35/family
Take an art class as a family. Make beautiful boxes to hold trinkets and gifts with old
pieces of fabric and paper.

ONGOING
Computer Tutoring and Instruction
Instructor: Dr. Abigail Joseph
All ages (includes adults)
We will be providing private computer tutoring and instruction for individuals
or small groups (We can currently accommodate 3 people at time.) Instruction
can take place on or off site depending on your needs. We can help with
computer basic computer navigation, applications (i.e., word, powerpoint,
excel), web design, programming, and graphic design, Please call
or email us to discuss your options and the design a program appropriate
for you and/or your child's needs.
In the future we will offer a structured class series. We are currently
writing grants and searching for funding to purchase up to date computer
equipment to better serve your needs.
